Charles G. Davenport Chapter

Charles G. Davenport was a colonist in the Republic of Texas. He was born in Lauren County, South Carolina on May 30th 1775. He married Sara Gary on February 20, 1803. He had one son, Joseph William Davenport born on September 27, 1826. Joseph married Isabella P. Dial on December 14, 1848. Isabella Dial Davenport was a landowner in her own right. Joseph W. and Isabella had a daughter named Lelia May. She married John Pickney Patterson on October 12, 1873. John and Lelia May had a daughter named Hattie Bell Patterson in Tyler, Texas. She married John Blythe Mayfield. Mrs. Hattie Bell Patterson Mayfield was admitted to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas on December 2, 1943. She and her kinswomen formed the Chapter now known as the Charles G. Davenport Chapter.

Our chapter, organized April 17, 1946, meets on the first Thursday of the months of September, October, November, December, February, March, and April. The May meeting is held on the Thursday following the annual state convention. Please see the "About Us" page for meeting information.
